Fourth Sunday at The Springs

Greetings from The Springs! The spirit was high on Sunday, November 23, 2014! Once the praise and worship team set the atmosphere, we all wanted to bask in His glory! Pastor Robert Terrell performed a mass blessing in which he prayed for each individual that came up to the Mourners Bench. As he did this, along with the choir singing and the congregation praying, it seemed as if we all were lifted even higher in the Lord. Really, you had to be in the midst to get the full experience of the worship service. Often people say that they are seeking the Truth and they want to “find the Lord.” Try Union Springs Baptist Church and let your journey begin with us. Pastor Terrell’s teaching is always based on this motto: Book, Chapter, Verse. The message for Sunday morning was delivered by Rev. Marshall Baugh and it was titled, “God, You Picked Me Up One Time, Do It Again.” His text came from Joshua 24:16-18 and he started the sermon by asking us who are we serving. He urged us to make up our minds today on who we will serve. Keep your minds on God. He made man and everything. He has so much power that He just spoke the Word. Rev. Baugh went on to say that we may be up and we may be down but don’t get angry, get holy. We can’t do anything else but wait on the Lord. This journey is not so hard. God wants us to be obedient and He created us to be special people. All we have to do is ask Him to do it again! There was a great outpouring of love for Rev. Pastor Vincent Casey as he was installed as pastor for True Faith Ministries in Rutledge. For now, the services are being held at the old campus of USBC on Old Mill Road. The speaker for the occasion was our very own, Pastor Robert Terrell and his text came from 2 Timothy 4:5. Pastor Casey was given the charge to “Watch Yourself” which was the title of the sermon. “But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” I know that Pastor Casey, with his wife Sharon at his side, will do as instructed by the Lord! Many blessings to True Faith! Wednesday Night Bible Study was very informative. The evening started off Pastor Terrell answering questions from last week. The one that I will make note of was this one. When a spirit is cast out where does it go? We went to St. Luke 11: 14-26 for the answer. Basically, when the spirit is cast out, as long as the person has not backslidden, the spirit can’t come back. We are instructed to take off the old man and put on the new man. By putting on the new man you are taking on God’s love, Word and Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit takes control of the service, He is in control of that demonic spirit. That kind of spirit which is cast out goes into a dry place or something that is not a body and not living. Before the class was over, Pastor Terrell began explaining the spiritual gifts in the order that they are listed in starting in 1 Corinthians 12:8. The only one that we were able to begin studying was wisdom. This gift goes hand in hand with temperance or self-control. It gives divine revelation or insight to work through any situation. A prime example of this divine wisdom can be found in 1 Kings 3: 6-28 where king Solomon had to judge between the two mothers. Now, Pastor Terrell is going to explain all of the Gifts so join us Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. Glory Be To God!
