Keep your heart free from hate

Seems like it’s been forever since I’ve written a column. It just comes down to being sick and not having anything special to write about, so I’m happy on this beautiful Monday to write again. And what a beautiful day it is after all the storms, rains and winds on Sunday. I think most everyone was glued to the television to see if it was coming our way and we are so fortunate that the worst did not get to Morgan County. For those where it was really bad, I really feel for them, to see their belongings destroyed and especially here close to the holiday season. Yes, I’m beginning today, saying how thankful I am for being safe, for being able to roll out of bed this morning and have food and clothes and a roof over my head. I’ll not forget to be thankful for my family, my church family and for all the blessings God has given me in 2014. I’m thankful that the “crud” I’ve had for nearly two weeks is about gone except a cough. Lord, you are so good to us. Butch and Cindy along with Kayla took a much needed weekend off and in his absence. Joe Reid preached on Sunday morning. He brought his message from Psalm 94:11 then went over to Romans 7: 18-25.   Telling us, that God said the world is continuously evil.  We think about evil with our bodies and in every way of our life. Hey, open your eyes. God is trying to get our attention. He is putting out warning signs. If our world would only take notice. We cannot let the devil take control of our lives. Congratulations to Patsy Greene on the recent birth of a brand new great-grand son. Little Ashton Daniel Autry weighed in at 6 pounds and 12 ounces on November 4th. The Edgar Stewart family are all making plans for a big birthday celebration. Eddie and Ruby tells me that Mr. Edgar will be turning 97 years young on Thursday. What a day that will be, not only Thanksgiving but birthday blessings all day long. Special greetings to you Mr. Edgar. The Evans family, Shondia, Herman, Heather, Ethan and Trey recently attended the blessing of Little Charlotte Morris’ dedication. Charlotte is the precious  daughter of Nicole and Brandon Morris and little sister to MacKenzie. I’d like to take this time and send our deepest love and sympathy to the Bumgarner and Ghann families. Clay lost his precious wife Janet after years of battling cancer. To Clay and to her children, brother and sister and mother, I want to say that God received another angel in His kingdom.  We know she will be missed. Our Christmas program is well underway being planned by Shannon Busbee. It will take place on the night of December 21. Let me stress, if you have a part in this program please support  Shannon and be there for practice. So glad to see some of our sick back with us on Sunday. It seems a bug is going around and attacking. So let’s get rid of the nasty thing before the holidays. So many of us have already started cooking and baking for Thanksgiving. Mine will be light this year. Only Gayle and her family will be here but we’ll have a good time and lots of good food. Plans for our annual Thanksgiving-Christmas Dinner are under way. It is always a special time.  Special birthday wishes for Bud Malcom and James Buice on Thursday the 27th. They both will have a big day with special food. Both of them in their 80’s, they sure deserve the best. Happy birthday to Kelly Sears, Charles Hamilton and Richard Ferguson on the 30. Anniversary blessings for Shondia and Herman Evans on the 28. I want to say “Honey, I hope you have a great birthday”  to my sweet little friend Rachael Moore on the 29th. I miss you. I was a fan of Norman Vincent Peal. He wrote this: “The way to happiness: Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much. Scatter sunshine. Forget self, think of others. Try this for a week and you will be surprised.” I’ll leave you with this message. Don’t forget the meaning of Thanksgiving. Right now seems the world is heading for turmoil and we do not know what our future holds. I think God is making His plans. So love each other, especially Mom and Dad. Give thanks for all you have and for each other. And BE CAREFUL IF YOU GET OUT  ON “BLACK FRIDAY”!!!!! So until next week may the Lord bless you real good.
