The Morgan County High School (MCHS) basketball team brought home another win this weekend after their 61 to 52 victory against the Fayette County Tigers. Top scorers for the game were Tookie Brown with 19 points, Jailyn Ingram with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Deborious Brown with 9 points and 11 rebounds. Assistant Head Coach Jonathan Nelson described the game as a great learning experience for the Dogs. “What stands out the most about this game is the fact that we were down a few points late in the third and early in the fourth quarter but they guys never panicked,” said Nelson. “They showed a whole lot of maturity as far as not panicking and did what they needed to do to get the win,” Nelson described the Fayette County Tigers as great competitors. “Fayette County made a good run at us. They shot the ball particularly well,” said Nelson. The MCHS Coaches are very proud of the team’s performance and dedication to the game. The Bulldogs will practice this week before they head to The Atlanta Hardwood Classic where they will face St. Francis Academy out of Maryland. The team will play St. Francis of Friday Nov. 28, which will be followed by another game on Saturday Nov. 29 against Laney. “These games will be a really good test,” said Nelson. “This is definitely a weekend the guys are looking forward too. They’re chomping at the bit to get out there and play those teams,” said Nelson. As the defending state champions, the MCHS Bulldogs are anxious to show their abilities when taking on their upcoming rivals. “Laney just moved up to AAA and a lot of high school sports experts have picked Laney to win it,” explained Nelson.
