Activities centered around the season

We are so thankful for the friends in our community that have helped our Family Ties group at this season. Our Celebration was Monday night the 15th.  The Methodist Church’s outreach group prepared a stocking for each of the children that included many goodies and unique gift ideas.  Apalachee Baptist church furnished a turkey for each family.  Jane Whitehead donated boxes of candy canes.  Our host for the evening, Fusion Church,  served a delicious supper after an inspirational program and cookie decoration session.  The gift-giving was the last item on the program, and funding for all the “wish list” items for each child was given by Fusion Church.  We would not be able to support our families, without the generosity and investment of our community partners.  Thanks to you all. Our activities this week are centering around the season, and we will have Christmas games leading up to our Christmas dinner on the 23rd.  Our Senior Center and Transit will be closed December 24 and 25th, but we will reopen on Friday the 26th for business as usual.  Water aerobics will be offered on that Friday, also, in case folks want to make sure their Christmas feast doesn’t stay on their scales. It is sad to note the passing of our long-time home delivered meal volunteer, Mr. George Hanes.  He and Mrs. Dorothy were faithful volunteers for many years, and when health restricted their involvement, many of the homebound seniors would ask about that lady with the pretty white hair and pretty smile.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Dorothy and the family. Please consider your Senior Center when thinking about new things to do in 2015.  We have activities and fellowship for everyone, so contact 706-342-1614 to see how we may enrich your New Year.
