The Morgan County High School (MCHS) Hoop Dogs took back-to-back wins against their opponents last week with a 101-55 victory against East Jackson and a 64-57 victory against Elbert. East Jackson traveled to Morgan County for the anticipated face off which resulted in an impressive win for the Hoop Dogs. “Offensively it was a great game,” said Assistant Head Coach Jonathan Nelson. At half time Morgan County led with a score of 38-29 which meant the team put an impressive 63 points on the board in the second half. Tookie Brown contributed 30 points to the win and Jailyn Ingram followed with 29. “It was a total team efort and everyone played well,” said Nelson. Later in the week, the Hoop Dogs traveled to Elbert. “Elbert is a tough team, not too many people are gonna get a win on that court. It was a hostile environment to play in but we responded and stepped up to the challenge,” said Nelson. With 101 points on the board, Tookie Brown scored 25, Jailyn Ingram scored 17 and Deshavian Reynolds contributed 10. The Hoop Dogs are focusing on their upcoming game against Jackson. “We just want to fine-tune some things for the Jackson game. We have some things we want to work on defensively and we want to play a lot of our guys,” said Nelson. December 20-23 the team will travel to Columbia South Carolina for the Chick Fil’ A Classic. “We’re going to need a lot of guys to play four games in three days. We want everyone primed up and ready to go,” said Nelson.
