The Madison Artists Guild’s annual Gingerbread Workshop was a giant hit this year. “The workshop was a huge success,” commented Elizabeth Collins, the Executive Director, of the Madison Artists Guild (MAG). On December 11, the MAG hosted its 14th annual Gingerbread Workshop with over 100 people attending the event. Collins said, “We had over 50 houses made! Many were last minute registrations, so thank goodness our wonderful Madison Artist Guild volunteers and elves were able to step up and ensure a good time for everyone!” The workshop entailed contests, music and a special appearance from the Snow Queen. The MAG sponsored 11 kids from the Boys and Girls club (BGC) to attend the workshop, and two girls from the BGC won the 11-14 year old gingerbread house competition. The girls won a $50 prize, this was the first year for this age specific competition. Collins said, “We are really trying to make the event fun for the whole family! We ended up offering 14 sponsorships total for children in the community (10 being from BGC).” The onslaught of workshop participators almost lead to shortage in materials, but the overall success of the workshop was worth it. The Madison Artists Guild would like to extend their appreciation to “MMCC for hosting, Ernest Rogers for music and lights and Ingles for icing donations….and huge thanks to MAG volunteers for making it happen!”
