Sylvia Peters, 70 of Madison, died December 12, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was a native of Walton County, born August 23, 1944. Her parents were the late Lunne and Clara Kilgore Durden. She was married to Kenny Peters. Mrs. Peters was a 911 operator and later 911 director for Morgan County until she retired. She was a member of Beacon Heights Baptist Church. She loved her family and looked forward to Saturday morning trips to Chick-fil-a with her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and loving mother but her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life. Mrs. Peters is survived by her husband Kenny Peters and children Phillip Malcom and Diane, Gail Whitton and Brad Peters and Summer; grandchildren Michael Malcom, Michelle Armstrong, Crystal Reynolds, Rene Herring, Nikki Stewart, Lacy Whitton, J. J. Malcom, Ashlee Peters and Weston Peters; great grandchildren Austin McDougal, Katlyn McDougal Jaxon Herring and Colin Herring, Her siblings are Luella Underwood, Hazel Foster, Martha McDougal, Sara Hester and Lynn Durden. She was preceded in death by two children Scott Malcom and Charlotte Malcom. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel. Interment followed in the Madison City Cemetery. A. E. Carter had charge of arrangements.
