The Morgan County Hoop Dogs are ready for a second shot at the Laney Wildcats as they prepare to face off yet again. This time on our turf. Earlier in the season, the Morgan County High School (MCHS) Hoop Dogs traveled to Laney High School where they lost in overtime 71-67. The Hoop Dogs will spend Friday and Saturday on their home court as they face Hart County on Friday night and Laney on Saturday. “Laney is number one in the state right now and our guys are ready to play,” said Assistant Head Coach Jonathan Nelson. The Laney Wildcats are currently ranked number one and the Morgan County Hoop Dogs are number five. “It’s going to be a knock out drag out. We know the type of team they have and we know what type of team we have,” explained Nelson. Having the home court advantage this time is something the team is excited about. “When we played at Laney there was a really rowdy crowd and their crowd expects them to win. I’m sure they’re going to bring a crowd with them when we play this weekend,” said Nelson. Be sure to put on your red and black and watch the number 1 and number 5 teams duke it out on Saturday Jan. 10 when the games begin at 6 p.m. The night before the re-match with Laney, MCHS will play Hart County. “This is a big weekend for our entire program,” said Nelson. “Hart plays really hard and they have a winning tradition. It should be a good game and we know our crowd will be there to support us.” The games against Hart County begin on Friday Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. so come out and watch the talented Morgan County basketball teams!
