This week we have several opportunities for our Seniors, beginning with the service of a free blood pressure check by one of our local hospice providers. We also had the Rural Development team of Kathy Forster and Wes Sparks from the Monroe Area Office to come and present a program on possible grants and low interest loans for home improvement, weatherization, and safety hazard corrections, to our Family Ties group Monday evening. We will also cover our nutritional education session the 14, which is a monthly service to our seniors provided by the University of Georgia Nutrition Service Department. Just by being a member of our center, seniors can receive these and other free services. We can serve over 60 citizens in our Water Aerobics classes which meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Aquatic Center for either a 8:30 or 9:20 class led by Mitzi Jackson and supervised by our own certified life guard, Missy Mauldin. Come get healthy with us in 2015. We’re looking ahead in the month to go shopping and dining in Athens on the 27. We have had several new referrals for our home delivered meal program, and if you or someone in your family, neighborhood, or church could benefit from a nutritious noon meal, this and other services may be explained at our GateWay of information number, toll-free at 1-800-474-7540. You may have to leave a message, but someone will return the call.
To join our center, please call (706)342-1614 or come by 991 S. Main Street for more information. Until then.
