Swimdogs Place Third

The Morgan County High School Swimdogs achieved a notable victory, placing third at the Eastside Invitational swim meet last weekend.

“Almost every swimmer swam a new personal best time in an event.  I am really proud of the results our swimmers are starting to see.  The next couple of meets will be even better!” said Coach Steve DeLaigle.

First place winners included swimmers Ellie Conn, Zach Fossum, and Zach Seymour. Conn placed first in the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle. Fossum placed first in the Boys 100 Yard Butterfly, and Seymour placed first in the Boys 500 Yard Breaststroke.

Second place winners included Zach Seymour, Zach Fossum, Lilly Courchaine, and Carolina Zant. Seymour placed second in the Boys 200 Yard Individual Medley. Fossum placed second in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle. Courchaine placed second in the Girls 500 Yard Freestyle. Zant placed second in the Girls 100 yard Breastroke.

Third place winners included Maggie Hume, Carolina Zant, Caroline Smith and Lilly Courchaine, Nick Hairell, Kilee Norman, Anna Beth Barber, Lauren Bone and Sierra Castillo.

Hume, Zant, Smith and Courchaine took third in both the Girls 200 yard Medley Relay and the Girl’s 200 yard Free Relay. Smith also took third in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle. Hairell took third in the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle- Nick Hairell. Norman, Barber, Bone and Castillo took third in the Girl’s 400 Yard Free Relay.

The MCHS Swimdogs are headed to Athens this Saturday, January 17 for their next meet at the University of Georgia’s Ramsey Center at 11 a.m.
