The Morgan County High School (MCHS) Swim Dogs competed in the Clarke-Oconee Invitational where they placed 11th overall.
The invitational was held in Athens, Ga at the Ramsey Center and featured 28 teams from all over north Georgia.
“I am extremely proud of our swimmers’ performance in the meet on Saturday. Nearly every team member achieved a new personal best time,’ said Coach Susan Courchaine. “Their hard work over the past few weeks has really paid off. The girls’ team reached their goal of qualifying for the state meet in the 200 free relay. When we attend these larger meets, I get a chance to see how we compare with many other teams.”
“Our team is small, but our athletes are high quality people. They show excellent sportsmanship and they represent our school with class. We have one more regular season meet and I look forward to a fantastic finish. Hopefully we will see a few more personal records and maybe another state-qualifying performance,” added Courchaine.
The Swim Dogs competed well in both individual and team races at the invitational. The relay team of Caroline Smith, Maggie Hume, Carolina Zant, and Mary Claire Cardwell qualified for the state meet in the second event which was the 200 Free Relay.
Also, the relay team of Smith, Hume, Zant and Cardwell, placed fourth in both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay.
