The MCHS Boys JV Basketball team along with the girls JV team and both varsity teams, had a triumphant winning streak against East Jackson. The final JV Boys score against East Jackson was 44-23. Yusuf Baig and Josiah Mitchell scored the most points for the JV boys’ team, with 17 and 10 points respectively.

According to Coach Nelson, the boy’s team shares the ball extremely well, with individual players such as Josiah, Yusuf and Ant Cooper playing with great energy on both ends. “The thing Ant brings to the table won’t show up in the box scores but when he’s playing with that energy, it’s a valuable piece for our team,” said Nelson. The boys’ team was able to rebound the ball extremely efficiently, and able to “apply pressure to their backcourt players and force turnovers,” according to Coach Nelson.

The team has improved the on “man to man defense” during the span of this season, applying “major pressure on our opponents,” said Nelson. The JV team will travel to Jackson County on Friday, Jan. 23 and move on to Buford on Saturday Jan. 24.

“I’m pretty sure their guys are amped to play us again because we beat them here in a high scoring matchup in December,” said Nelson.
