The girls came out swinging at their first match against Prince Avenue last Thursday. Out of three single matches and two doubles matches, MCHS only had one loss. The team played eight game pro sets because of the cold weather and harsh winds, said Coach Greg Thompson. “I think we are in pretty good shape this season,” said Thompson. “Of course we have some work to do and I hope we will peak more towards the end of the season rather than now.” Katherine Rittenhouse won the singles match against a Prince Avenue opponent 8-4 and Chloe Cooper won her singles match 8-6. Mariella Plumley lost her singles match 1-8. Madison Gasque and Carolone Rittenhouse paired up for a doubles match and won 8-6. Clara Arienzo and Callie Arienzo also paired up for a double match and won 8-4. “I think we are going to have a great season,” said Thompson.
