Congratulations to Betty Allen, and Bill Shaffer who campaigned earnestly and answered interview questions astutely, and were voted Mr. and Mrs. Morgan County Senior Center Sweethearts.
The voting was very close between the lady contestants, and the tallies were only one point difference between. Lorene Mohone, Minnie Fitch, and Betty Allen, but Allen came out on top. The voting was also tight between the gentlemen contenders – Jim Prugh, Rufus Benford, and Bill Shaffer- but the new-comer to our Center edged out the competition.
We served about 45 Seniors and guests a big helping of homemade vegetable soup and cornbread, and topped it off with strawberry punchbowl cake, to everyone’s delight. We had a great day! The cold weather is especially dangerous to our population, so our headcount has been a little down during the bitter days, but those that are able to come are finding plenty to stay busy.
We’ve postponed our monthly out to lunch and shop trip because of the weather this week, because safety outweighs anything else, but we will have plenty of warm fun inside here instead. Please take special precautions with this flu.
We’ve also had several sick with the bug, and it is a serious strain. Please wash hands often, and keep away from known infectious folks.
If your Center can be of assistance to you, please feel free to call (706)342-1614 for information about services. Get your tax paperwork together because the AARP folks are here March 3 at 9 a.m. to help you file your taxes.
As always, the team performs this service to our community, and we are very appreciative of them. Hopefully, we will have more Spring-like temperatures next week!
