Action, Inc. can help with foreclosure

Special to the Citizen Homeowners in 12 northeast Georgia counties seeking to avoid foreclosure can now get help from Action, Inc. and the Hancock Community Development Corporation (CDC) in applying for government funds to help pay their mortgage. Action, Inc. and Hancock CDC were recently certified as housing partners by HomeSafe Georgia, a state run, federally funded program to help homeowners avoid foreclosure. Action Inc. serves people in Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe and Walton counties. Hancock CDC serves those in Clarke, Barrow, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Stephens, Walton and Washington counties. Counselors at both organizations have been trained by HomeSafe Georgia staff and are prepared to help homeowners determine the best program option and assist them in completing and submitting an application. Counseling services are available free of charge. Homeowners in Georgia can also apply for funds directly by filling out an application at www.HomeSafeGeorgia.com.HomeSafe Georgia helps homeowners who are unemployed, underemployed or face other types of financial hardships save their home from foreclosures. There are no costs to apply and no fees if a homeowners is approved. More than 6,400 Georgia homeowners have been approved for assistance.
