Mother Bessie P. Folds, 100, died September 2, 2015. She was born August 15, 1915 in Morgan County. She was one of four children born to the late Zanders and Emma Simpson Peterson. Mother Folds was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and a true woman of God. She was an active member in Jackson Grove Baptist Church. She met and married Johnny Folds Sr. in 1931 and to this union three children were born. She cherished special occasions and traditional holidays with family. She loved to sew, cook and work in her garden. She lived independently until the age of 100. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, mother, father, two sisters and one brother. She leaves to cherish her life and legacy two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. McArthur Williams (Lucy) of Atlanta and Mrs. Tommie Brown of Madison and one son Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Folds Jr. (Josephine) of Atlanta; two special children, Betty Maria Wilson and Clifford Davis (June Bug). She had four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 5 at Jackson Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Willie Enus presiding and Pastor Mamie Caldwell officiating. Interment was in Madison City Cemetery. Pallbearers were her nephews and great nephews and the flower girls were her grandchildren. Watts Funeral Home of Union Point was in charge of arrangements.
