Greetings from The Springs! I know that Prophet Collins has been in the thoughts and prayers of many of us over the past several months. The Springs family is planning to visit him on Saturday, October 17. To sign up to ride the bus, please see Sister Angela Peterson quickly. The bus will fill up in a hurry, so don’t delay to get your name on the list. It will be great to see Prophet Collins who has ministered so profoundly to us over the years. Pastor’s Appreciation Day is set for Sunday, October 25 and Deacon Johnny Hubbard is in high gear organizing this event.
The occasion will be held during our morning worship service at 10 a.m. that day, so join us as we honor our wonderful pastor. Pastor Terrell continued the series on the Book of Revelation during Bible Study. We finished chapter two but first looked at the map of the seven cities representing the seven churches mentioned in the text which are located in Asia Minor. John talks about these seven churches in a clockwise manner starting with Ephesus then Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and ending with Laodicea.
We also studied the location of the Isle of Patmos where the Apostle Paul wrote the Book of Revelation. This was a small, desolate island where criminals were left to die. Paul was sent there by Roman authorities to punish him for refusing to stop preaching and testifying of Christ. Last week we saw that this book has three major parts being “things which thou hast seen,” “things which are” and “things which shall be hereafter.” We were able to complete chapter two for discussion and review, and we will move to chapter three next. By the way, we had homework to explain the seven trumpets in this book. Needless to say, I have completed my assignment. Have you?
On Sunday, October 4,, the speaker for the morning was Minister Derrick Worrell. He told us that we go through things in life that we can’t handle, but God said that He can make a way. He did not say that you had to make the way, He said I will make the way! He also said that I will make you able to bear what you are going through. He won’t put any more on you than you can handle. The first text that he expounded on was 1 Corinthians 10:1, 13. God doesn’t want us ignorant of spiritual things. Many of us have common sense but when it comes to spiritual things, we are unaware. God made a way for those back then and He will make a way for us right now. So don’t forget some of those bridges that God brought you over.
All of them were not easy to cross, but He brought you over them. If He did it back then, He will do it again. There’s more. You are not in this alone. Someone else has been through what you are and someone else is going through now what you are going through. Stop thinking, “Oh woe is me.” God won’t put you in situation that you can’t handle. Whatever you are facing, God will be with you. He will make the way.
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Even when we get ourselves into some difficult situations, He said He will make a way. Moving to St John 14:1 and 5-6, during a time when Jesus is speaking before He was getting ready to go, He said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
After that, Thomas asks, “How can we know the way?” How can you know the way? How can you handle your situation? Minister Worrell said your problem can be big but our God is bigger! That is what you have to tell yourself. Yes, I may have a problem, but the God I serve is bigger than my problem! Jesus’ answer to Thomas was “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus is the way! You can’t do anything without Him! You can’t get to Heaven without Jesus! You must accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior! There is no other way. With Jesus, you can be free of your yesterday! If you want the storms of your life to cease, accept Jesus Christ, the Way Maker! Glory Be To God!
