Tell God all of your troubles

Greetings from The Springs! Although we are about to wrap up 2015, we still are not even half way through the series on Revelation. Last Wednesday, Pastor Robert Terrell focused on chapter 7 and looked at The Great Tribulation. There are several different theological beliefs on this subject; however, we looked at two of them. One belief is that The Tribulation and suffering is happening now and has happened throughout time. The other belief is that there will be a specific, set time in history for The Tribulation to occur.

With these beliefs stated though, we must keep in mind that all believe and agree that God will rescue us. Our homework for the week was to study about Dan and how this tribe relates to Revelation. In addition, read chapter eight of Revelation as we prepare to move further in this series. On Sunday, December 27, among our many visitors, we were pleased to have Richard and Lillian Shinhoster worshipping with us. They are the owners of The Diaspora Marketplace in Savannah. This store contains imported items from Africa that include clothing, baskets, masks and carvings just to name a few of their products. The next time that you are in Savannah, stop in and say hello to them.

The store is located at 510 MLK, Jr. Blvd. Pastor Terrell’s main text for the morning came from Isaiah 9:6 and he linked St. John1:1 with it to show that the Son was here in the beginning. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Word means the Son. If the Son was in the beginning, He has always existed as the Son even in Heaven. Yet, He had to be birth by a woman on Earth to be a Savior. The Son was given as a Savior when He was born. In Genesis 1:26, after everything had been created, it says, “Let Us make man in Our image.”

The “Us” was the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Therefore, the Son had already existed but He just had not been given. Pastor Terrell went further and said that the people were slaves to sin. God wanted to save His people from their sin. It was at that time that He gave His only begotten Son to be born of a virgin, Mary. Jesus being born in this manner is significant because Mary was the only woman ever to have the Seed come into her by the Holy Ghost and not by a man. In Genesis 3:14-15, God curses the serpent first then the woman and then the man. He did this because that One that was coming was going to be born of a woman. The first thing that God did in this instance was to curse the serpent. We have to stop cursing people and start getting the devil. We must cast out the enemy. We should lay hands on our children and on our spouses and cast out the devil. The problem lies with him. When the Lord reversed the curse though the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He told the serpent that he would be, “cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly thou shall go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.” However, the promise is this.

“I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head and thou shall bruise his head.” Remember that the woman does not have the seed unless the man, who has the seed, impregnates her. The only woman that had a seed and not made pregnant by a man was Mary. If a man had impregnated her, then that would have brought sin by the seed of a man. Only One was going to bruise the devil’s head and that was the Seed of Mary, the mother of Jesus! That Seed came into the Earth by the way of the Holy Ghost and not by the way of a man. If it had been the seed of anything else, it would have been sin. Because our Father, by the Holy Spirit, impregnated Mary with a Seed that was of God, redemption came to the world.

Jesus was fully God and fully man. The devil could do nothing about this. He would always have his head bruised. After the text stated that a Child would be born and a Son would be given, it said that the government would be on His shoulders. This meant that God, by the way of Jesus Christ, is the only authority. The last statement that Jesus made before He went back to Heaven, He said all authority has been given to Me in Heaven and in Earth. This means no matter what authority you may have, God gave it all to you. You may be a deacon and seem small compared to that company you work for, but when you fall down on your knees, that company comes under the authority of God. They may be big but all authority will rest on the shoulders of the Baby that was born and that you have accepted as Savior and Lord. Remember that He is the common denominator and the equalizer of everything. When you fall down on your knees and humble yourself to God, He will straighten out what you cannot do. Talk to God tonight.

Tell Him about all your troubles. He is the One. You belong to Him. We serve a True and Living Savior that loves you. Start 2016 knowing this in your mind and pray to Him. Plead the Blood of Jesus! Here is the story that Pastor Terrell used to end his sermon. There was a Child born of the virgin, Mary. He walked this Earth sinless because the Seed of God impregnated His mother by the way of the Holy Spirit. Every trick that the enemy has fails. Jesus was fully God and at the same time, He was fully human. The Bible states that He hungered and was thirsty and He was spiritually fatigued. Yet, He was compassionate and loving.

He experienced every emotion and every situation that we deal with, but He did not sin. They trumped up charges on Him and marched Him up Golgotha’s Hill. Then they crucified Jesus on a Roman cross. On that cross, all of our sins were there. On that cross, He paid a debt that He did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay. In all that happened to Him, He did not say a mumbling word. Even while they were crucifying Him, He said, “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.” He died. He gave up the Ghost. No man took it. They buried Him in a borrowed tomb. He stayed there and on the third day, He got up with all power in His hands. That is the power that He has for us right now. No matter what you are dealing with, He has all power, all compassion, all love, and all forgiveness. He has all of everything that you could ever need. All of this is wrapped up in One. You were not sent here to stay and one day you will have to lay down this busy walk of life. Nevertheless, if you accept the gift of the Savior, who has power over death, He will save you from sin. If you have not accepted Him, you need to so and you need to do it now! “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The might God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Glory Be To God!
