The Morgan Middle School Bulldogs came up with a big conference win this past week over Youth 31-24. Head Coach Milfred Franklin commented, “Overall, this was as close to a complete game in every aspect that we’ve played.  I was very pleased with our overall mental alertness throughout the game.  The players showed they can play “good and sound basketball” when they are held accountable for their mistakes.  As a team, they’ve finally seen how they need to play to be successful.  If the team doesn’t play at this level throughout the entire game, they understand the result will not be what they want.” Morgan was led by Trent Folds with 10 points, Jhesai Wade with nine, and Armond Wright with six to round out the majority of the scoring. Later in the week the Bulldogs lost to Putnam County 33-31 in a hard-fought contest. Franklin said, “Our level of energy and consistency was not at our best and this led to underestimating our opponents.  Shooting 9 for 24 from the free throw line will not win any ball games no matter what level of basketball you play in.  A lot of troubles we are having are fixable, which is something I stress to the players.  But on the other hand we can’t just assume the troubles will fix themselves.”
