The Morgan County Middle School Bulldogs lost a close game at home against the Putnam County War Eagles 31-33 on Friday, January 15. The game looked promising in the first half. In the first quarter Bulldogs Trent Folds had four points, Desmond White scored two points, and Chandler Brady added one point, which allowed the Dogs to take the lead over Putnam 7-5. The Dogs added eight more points in the second quarter by Ty Butler with five points and Tyrese Nelson with three, while the War Eagles totaled five points. The Dogs went into half time with a lead of 15-10. In the third quarter, Bulldogs Armond Wright and Jhesai Wade each scored one point, and Desmond White scored two. While the Dogs managed to pick up four points in the quarter the War Eagles scored a total of nine points, thus tying the game 19-19.The fourth quarter was full of back-to-back shots on both ends of the court as each team attempted to take the lead. Trent Folds scored five points, Jhesai Wade and Chandler Brady each scored two, and Tyrese Nelson scored three points for a total of 12 points by the Dogs in the fourth quarter. Despite the continuous effort of the Bulldogs the War Eagles scored 14 points in the quarter, ending the game 31-33. “Our level of energy and consistency was not at our best and this led to under estimating our opponents. Shooting 9 for 24 from the free throw line will not win any ball games no matter what level of basketball you play in,” said Bulldog’s Coach Franklin, “a lot of troubles were are having are fixable, which is something I stress to the players. But on the other hand we can’t just assume the troubles will fix themselves.” Next up, the Dogs will take on Social Circle on Wednesday, Jan. 20, followed by a game at home against Monticello on Friday, Jan. against Monticello on Friday, Jan. 22.
