It’s known as the High Fashion Capitol of the World, where the renowned icon Iris Apfel turned her funky fashion style into art, where New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham captures fashion trends in photos for the masses, where the world’s top apparel brands come together to market their creations. And, it’s where BB&G and Madison Square Collection owner Theresa Bishop and sales associate Carol Vernon just visited to study, select and buy one-of-a-kind fashions and accessories to bring back for local customers in Madison and Morgan County. Bishop and Vernon, both of Madison, just attended AccessoriesTheShow, a fashion and apparel show held at the Javits Center in New York, known as one of the busiest convention centers in the Unites States, with 1,800,000 total square feet and 840,000 square feet of total exhibit space. The show took place January 10th through the 12th. Bishop says the show was huge and amazing. “It took us almost the entire first day to simply walk each aisle to get an overview of the choices and make notes to revisit the booths that looked promising. It was totally awesome,” she said.

About 350 brands marketed their creations at the show and Bishop said some of the fashion booths ran continuous fashion shows, creating an atmosphere of excitement and celebration for the coming seasons. Bishop also attends market in Atlanta, but decided to make the trip to the New York show to specifically find “fashions and accessories that no other local or regional retailer offers.” Bishop chose colors and styles based upon her knowledge of her customer base and what appeals to them. “I prefer quality times that can be worn for more than just one season,” Bishop said. She ordered lots of items for the Spring and Summer seasons in colorful linen and soft comfortable fabrics. “At this show alone, we placed orders with over a dozen new lines of clothing, purses and jewelry.” Bishop says these orders are in addition to the orders she already placed at the Atlanta Mart. Needless to say, Spring will be exciting at BB&G and Madison Square Collections with “gorgeous new clothing, jewelry, bags, purses in both shops.” She also said to look for fabulous summer shoes and sandals at Madison Square Collection.
