Madison-Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau Announces Executive Director

The Madison-Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau (MMCVB) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ellen Ianelli Sims as the permanent Executive Director. Mrs. Sims brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our organization. She recently served as the interim director of the newly formed MMCVB and prior to served as the Director of the Madison-Morgan Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau. The MMCVB formed on July 1, 2015 and is a full service not for profit destination marketing organization. Its primary goal is to promote tourism by increasing leisure and business travel to Madison, and Morgan County. As the Executive Director, Mrs. Sims will act as the primary spokesperson for the Bureau, report to the MMCVB Board of Directors, and will direct and lead the organization toward its mission. She will also be responsible for all aspects of the Convention and Visitors Bureau office management, as well as overseeing the operations of the Welcome Center and staff.

The MMCVB board feels Ellen is the perfect choice for this position. She grew up in Madison and understands the history of the city and county. Ellen has excellent credentials and her experience includes sitting on the boards of a number of travel organizations, including Georgia’s Antebellum Trail, Georgia’s Lake Country (where served as President 2013-2015), and Treasures I-20. She also served on the Historic Heartland Regional Travel Association Board from 2012 – 2015. The Board looks forward to working with Ellen as we continue to promote tourism, not only in historic Madison, but throughout Morgan County.
