Marijuana trafficking arrest made

Three South Carolina men face marijuana trafficking charges after a Morgan County deputy located more than 20 pounds of marijuana in a dog crate in the trunk of a vehicle. According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Corporal Kenny Stewart stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche on Interstate 20 at approximately midnight on January 19 for following too closely. After the stop, reports state, Stewart reported that the men told conflicting stories regarding their travel plans. After Stewart issued the driver, Devaughn Eugentra Hill, 24, Conway, S.C. a warning citation for following too closely, he then allegedly received permission to search the vehicle, both from Hill and from passengers Jamell Andre Sherman, 25, Conway, S.C. and Benet Lewis Hemingway, 55, Conway, S.C. During a search of the vehicle, reports state, Stewart located a block of marijuana concealed in straw in a dog crate in the rear of the vehicle. The three men were then arrested and transported to the Morgan County Detention Center where they were charged with trafficking in marijuana.
