Sunday morning attendance was good, weather was cold and members were out due to jobs, sickness, etc. We are thankful for the visitors that continue to come week after week and we pray they receive encouragement and blessings by coming and will continue to come be with us as God leads. Special music was, “Love Crucified a Rose,” by Connie Cottrell.

Pastor Anthony Cottrell’s message, “Love God Love Others,” I Cor. 13:8. We are created to love; we are told this in the Bible many times. Love never fails, I John 4 tells us God is Love and Love has been before time began, and Love will endured through eternity. Luke 10: 25-37 the lawyer asked Jesus, Teacher what shall I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus’ reply was, “What is written in the law?” The lawyer was giving the proper answer to Jesus’ question but in giving his answer the lawyer was missing part of the meaning. The lawyer said to Jesus, “You shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and your neighbor as yourself. Deut. 6: 5, Lev. 19:18. Jesus said you are right if you do this you will love. Then the lawyer was faced with truth, he realized that true life requires one to be devoted to love.

The lawyer then said analyzing his ability to love because the Bible says the lawyer “wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus told him about the man going from Jerusalem to Jericho, fell among thieves who stripped and wounded him and left him half-dead. Then a priest came by looked at him and passed on by. Then a Levite came and passed to the other side. Next a Samaritan came by stooped and had compassion on him, bound his wounds pouring in oil and wine and placed him on his donkey and took him to an inn, stayed the night and cared for him, gave money to the innkeeper, do what you can for him and when I come back I’ll repay you for all you have done. The lawyer heard this and answered Jesus saying the one that “showed mercy on him” was truly a neighbor. Jesus then told him, “Go and do likewise for anyone that needs you. Matt. 5: 43-48, I John 4: 7-16. What great things we can do together as the body of Christ if we love as He tells us to love. Because He loved us we ought to love one another. Luke 9: 51-56. Jesus’ response is always Love. “For the Son of man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” I Corn. 13: 1-13, I John 3: 16-18. Sunday evening at 6 p.m. a Valentine’s Day Banquet, “Love God, Love Others,” was held in the Family Life Building.

A good attendance was present and enjoyed the food, fun and fellowship.
