Special to the citizen
Saturday, March 5th 2:00pm to 6:00pm Chicken Tracks Art Ranch is the private residence and studios of artist duo Elizabeth Collins and Chuck Hanes. Saturday, March 5th from 2:00 to 6:00, the public is invited to an open house at the “Ranch” located at 2855 Broughton Road, Newborn 30056. Guests will have access to visit the various studios, such as the Pottery Studio, Wood and Metal Shop, The Aerie (art classroom), and the Variations Room. Several live demonstrations of pottery, blacksmithing and painting will delight visitors throughout the event. The gallery will be open for those wishing to shop for handmade artwork and pottery made by Chuck and Elizabeth…..even walk through the house and enjoy their private collection of original art! Several guest artists will be demonstrating their processes and exhibiting their work. Chicken Tracks Art Ranch will be featuring the artwork of Lindy Burnett’s Art Academy students in their final exhibit and sale under Lindy’s tutelage.
After many years of inspiring young artists in our community with Art Academy and Camp Colorwheel, Lindy will be moving with her husband Rob to Merritt Island, Florida. “All of our students know how important painting is to me, as it is to them, so I will create a studio to focus on becoming a better painter!” A successful illustrator, Lindy’s newly released kids’ book “Bitsy’s Happy Bouquet” will be available for sale as well! Local art teachers Marjean Meadow from MCMS and Laura Rice from MCES will award 2nd, 1st, and Best of Show in the student exhibit at 4:00pm during the event. But here is more exciting news….Camp Colorwheel and Art Academy will continue at Chicken Tracks Art Ranch! Beginning in June with 4 weeks of Camp Colorwheel, the traditions of Lindy’s art camp will be blended with Chuck and Elizabeth’s own style of art.
With plenty of time in the pottery studio, campers will also create plays, make obstacle courses, take instructive nature hikes, draw the animals from life…. as well as make tons of art! Registration for Camp Colorwheel will begin at open house. Chuck and Elizabeth are excited about this new art venture…. Both are heavily involved with the Madison Artists Guild and teach art at Crossroads School through the Steffen Thomas Museum, and Elizabeth has been the ceramics director at Camp Twin Lakes for the last 10 years. “We are so honored that Lindy has chosen to pass on the Art Academy and Camp Colorwheel to us…. Her students will miss her terribly, but we can’t wait to make new art and new memories with this creative bunch!”
