Man killed in accident

An Eatonton man was electrocuted last Friday when a ladder he was moving struck a power line, reports state. According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Alexis Alonzo Hill, 50, died from injuries sustained after the ladder he was moving made contact with a power line. The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church in Rutledge. Reports state that Hill was part of a roofing crew working at the church. According to Capt. Chris Bish, Criminal Investigations Division; Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the emergency crews were on scene applying first aid to Hill when deputies arrived. Initally, Bish said, an officer established a landing zone for a helicopter ambulance at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Old Mill Road, but Hill’s condition deteriorated and the decision was made to rush him to Morgan Memorial Hospital. A witness at the scene told officers he observed Hill touch the ladder to the power line and then was electrocuted. Bish said the death is still under investigation but he there was “nothing to indicate it was anything other than an accident.”
