Our days are so beautiful and the flowers are so pretty, I keep asking myself when will this end? And I think it will. I think we’ll at least get some more cold weather, but anyhow it’s been so good. Always I look forward to the sermons that come from Butch’s Mouth and Sunday I double enjoyed it coming from Mark 9 and entitling his message “Some Identity Please.” This question was asked, “Is He worthy?” and my answer is yes always make sure you know whom you serve. Here we are coming upon Easter and we ask, is Jesus God who is He? Where is His identity – yes, He is God incarnate. His glory identified Him as God, as did His holiness.
Our life and identity began with the cross and the resurrection. He does not need testimony from you or me to identify Himself. No one has power over death but God. What a blessing our family and friends can make by just a visit. Sue Crowley had college kids from Virginia Tech visiting over their spring break. Stephanie Pestka and her friend Brody Frost spent several days, leaving the snow in Virginia and getting this beautiful Georgia weather. They even sunned on the dock and I believe braved the still chilled water in Oconee. On Saturday our ladies hosted a beautiful shower for Russ Johnson and his soon to be bride, Ashlee Batchelor. A couples shower, the men sure enjoyed being in the middle of all the giggly ladies. They received so many nice gifts to enjoy as they begin their life together. This coming Sunday the 20th, after the morning worship hour we will have a lunch to benefit the Building Fund. This will be a nice Taco lunch with the extra stuff, dessert, drink, all for just $5.00.
Please come and eat and help support our church. Then on the following Sunday, the 27th, we will have a Sun Rise Service at 7 a.m. at Bell’s Lake on Seven Islands Road, with coffee and donuts afterwards. No Sunday school this day, then our Easter service at 11 a.m. you are welcome to join us. This Saturday the teddy bears will be delivered to the Children’s Hospital. Stephanie and Sandy are doing a great job with the Kids and they will enjoy this trip. Plans are underway for our Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser forthe Building Fund. Tickets are available now. I think most of our sick are doing better. Steve Smith has gone back to work after his heart surgery; Herman Evans is getting around good and I haven’t heard of anyone being really sick. Thank you Lord for that blessing. We send our sympathy to the family of E.J. Bell. I did not know Mr. Bell but I hear his death was sudden. Love and prayers for the family. Not much going on around here this March week but I always like to jot a few things down that might be important to someone. Happy birthday to Betty Walker on the 22; Cayla Jackson the 23 and to little Miss Cadence Bell on the 27. As we go into the Easter season, remember the reason; remember how He struggled up that hill with that rugged cross and please remember who He did it for, yes, you and me. Until next week, may the Lord bless you real good.
