Bernard P. Oxford, husband, father, grandfather and brother of Wedowee, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the age of 78.  He leaves behind his wife, Virginia D. Oxford, daughters Melanie Black, Michelle Mullins and her husband Richard, Devon Cohn and her husband Brian and Erin Clark and her husband Charlie.  He also leaves behind his sister Jacqueline Rhea and her husband Brock and grandsons Richard, Sam, Carson and Ford.   Bernard was born in Atlanta to James and Virginia Oxford who predeceased him.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Noreen and daughter Allison. Bernard grew up in Atlanta and moved to Madison, where he raised his family. He moved from Madison to Lake Wedowee in 2014.  Bernard was retired from a 30 year long career at AT&T as a Communications Technician.     A memorial service was held on Monday, March 14 at The First Baptist Church of Wedowee at 2 p.m.  The family received visitors at 1 p.m. at the church.  A graveside service will be held at Brownwood Baptist Church on Sunday, April 10 at 2 p.m.  The family asks that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
