A somewhat inexperienced, but balanced, Morgan golf team has had a hot start in their 2016 campaign. The girls are 5-2 going into this week with one of the biggest golfing events in Georgia for women looming for them this Saturday. The Georgia Peach Tournament will be played at HLC starting early Saturday morning with over 100 competitors in the field. Get out there and support our girls. Morgan’s only two losses have been to region opponents, but have been close. Coach Pam Hooten said, “We are a young team with two juniors and two freshmen in varsity competition.” Those players are juniors Savannah Ross and Maggie Massey, and freshmen Paige Carroll and Emily Finck. In the first two tri-matches of the season, Savannah Ross captured the low-medalist honors for both. In the last two matches, Emily Finck and Paige Carroll earned the low-medalist honors. Coach Hooten said, “It is exciting to see the freshmen stepping up and playing well against experienced varsity players. We are all working hard to improve our scores.  Our best team score is 153 (counting 3 of 4 girls scores for 9-holes).  Our goal is to get the team score to 145.  If we can do this, we have a good chance of making it to the state playoffs.”
