Morgan County Sheriff Robert Markley said a death investigation surrounding the death of a 63–year–old Morgan County man continues and that initial findings point toward a fall as the cause.

On Sunday, April 24, the body of Jim Thomas Brown was discovered on the couch of his Nolan Store Road residence by his son Sean Thomas Brown, reports state.

According to Markley, after investigators arrived at the residence, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were called to the scene. Barkley said Sean Brown had concerns about his father and was stopping to check on him. The last time the son saw Jim Thomas Brown was on Wednesday, April 20, reports state.

Investigators were concerned because of copious amounts of blood that led from a garage at the house to a couch in the living room. Jim Thomas Brown was found on the couch, reports state.

Barkley said “preliminary findings show an injury sustained from a fall but the investigation will continue until a medical examiner makes a determination.”

Barkley said investigators were able to determine that Jim Thomas Brown had a serious laceration behind an ear.
