DUI suspect plows through front door, injures two

On Wednesday June 1 Christopher Daniel of Ooltewah, Tenn. crashed his 2016 Jeep Rubicon into the Dollar General store in Madison at approximately 6:04 p.m.

According to the incident report, it was suspected that the 47–year–old driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel was issued violations for failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence.

According to the incident report, Daniel was in the Bottle Shop parking lot and for unknown reasons began accelerating. Daniel drove through the front grass lawn and traveled across all lanes of Eatonton Highway. Daniel then continued west up the embankment and into the Dollar General parking lot.

The vehicle then continued into the Dollar General where two people inside the store were hit. At this point the vehicle came to a stop.

According to the incident report Daniel stated “he did not remember what happened, but all he knew was that he had messed up”.

Two witnesses of the incident reported identical stories to Georgia State Patrol Officer Webb.

Cynthia Alldredge of Madison was transported to Morgan Memorial Hospital for non-fatal injuries.

Paulette Carter also of Madison was taken to Morgan Memorial Hospital for a non-fatal spine injury.

The investigation remains incomplete as the Georgia State Patrol awaits blood results.
