A letter from the Assistant Superintendent

We are so excited about our new school year!

In the area of Student Support, we have dedicated one counselor position at the Primary and Elementary Schools to be devoted solely to mental health counseling — working with the behavioral and emotional needs of our students so that all students can learn.  We have fine-tuned our attendance procedures to ensure that our students are present and ready to learn every day.  Our School Nutrition Program

will be using student “taste-testers” to help plan menus and will continue to provide incentives to encourage participation in our school meals.  Our innovative teacher/school-developed mini-grants will be in place to improve student achievement in the areas of creative writing, “Operation Graduation”/specialized reading instruction, coding, mindfulness, extra student support time before and after school, technology for professional learning, and an intensive social/behavioral program.  Special education services are expanding to meet our system needs and a digitalized instructional intervention program has been developed.  Our “New to the System Teacher Induction Program” will begin the new school year with a day-long Orientation complete with a school bus tour of Morgan County. This important “new teacher” initiative will continue throughout the school year. We are ready….and excited to support our students at all levels in so many positive ways.  The new school year will be better than ever,

and we can’t wait for it to begin!

Sarah Burbach, Assistant Superintendent   of Schools
