Escaped inmate captured

An inmate who escaped from a Walton County work detail was captured in Morgan County.

According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Billy White Sr. was captured without incident in a wooded area behind Centennial Baptist Church.

According to Walton County Sheriff’s Office reports, White, walked away from a work detail in Social Circle at approximately 2:25 p.m on Friday, August 19. White was at the public works building in Social Circe on Vine Circle when he left, reports state.

He was located behind the church on Sunday, August 21 at approximately 6 p.m. Reports state that he had contacted his wife and informed her that he was “at the church on Brownwood Road.”

Walton County reports state that White had cut his prison issued clothing to resemble shorts and he had discolored the uniform with some type of liquid.

White, 40, was incarcerated in Walton County on a failure to appear charge and a probation violation. He now faces an escape charge, Deputy Sheriff Lora Starney said.
