Bostwick man dies after motorcycle has head–on collision with Toyota

A 26–year–old Bostwick man died tragically Thursday after the motorcycle he was driving had a head–on collision with a Toyota Prius.

According to Georgia State Patrol reports, Shane Andrew Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene  by Morgan Coroner Adam Carter. The incident occurred near the 4600 block of Bostwick Road at approximately 10:33 p.m.

Reports state that the 2003 Kawasaki ZX6R motorcycle driven by Roberts collided, front to front, with a 2006 Toyota Prius driven by Daniel Barnes Brown, 62, Athens. Father Brown is the priest at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Madison.

The Prius was traveling southbound in the southbound lane of Bostwick Road and the motorcycle was traveling north on Bostwick Road. The collision occurred in the southbound lane. Father Brown told troopers that he was adjusting his mirror when he saw a single headlight coming in his direction just moments before the crash.

Roberts was thrown from the motorcycle.

According to Roberts’ obituary, he was the father of two young children and an active member of Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. at Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church in Bostwick.
