A Bostwick man was arrested and charged with a felony drug charge after a traffic stop.
According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Donald Christopher Maughon, 45, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and crossing a guard line with drugs.
Deputy Joseph Pritchett stopped Maughn while the suspect was driving on High Shoals Road at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7 for an alleged suspended registration.
After the stop, reports state, Pritchett and Sgt. Chad Lanier approached the vehicle and as Maughon was exiting the vehicle he allegedly attempted to remove an item from a front pocket. Officers patted Maughon down and found a glass pipe in the pocket containing white residue.
At that point Maughon was arrested. A consequent search of the 2004 GMC Yukon he was driving resulted in officers finding a small amount of suspected methamphetamine in a plastic bag. A cut straw was also found in the vehicle.
While Maughon was being processed at the Morgan County Detention Center, a jailer informed officers that he had allegedly found a second pipe believed to be used to smoke methamphetamine.
