The Morgan County Cheerleaders hosted their annual Bulldog Invitational Cheerleading Competition on September 10th.  25 teams competed in various divisions. The middle school and high school squads were both very excited to compete at home as they begin their competitive seasons. Both squads started the season with a strong performance. Another highlight of the day was seeing this year’s kiddie campers having fun doing their chants they learned this summer. MCHS Cheerdog’s next competition will be held at Commerce on September 24th. The middle school will continue their season at Alcovy High School in Covington next Saturday, September 17th.

The results of the Bulldog Invitational were:

Middle school division 1A 2A 3A: 4th place LOA, 3rd place Social Circle, 2nd place Morgan Co. 1st place Bleckley Middle

Middle school division 4A 5A 6A: 3rd place Cousins Middle, 2nd place Indian Creek, 1st place Ola Middle

While Morgan County High School was only competing for scores at their home competition, their scores placed them secon overall. The coaches feel this is a great way to start the season. The judges loved their energy and showmanship which was helped a great deal by the home crowd. Coach Leslie Watkins had this to say, “We knew that this year would be a rebuilding year for us losing six seniors last year. But these girls have worked hard all summer and we are really proud of what they accomplished this weekend. These girls are ready to Rise Up to the challenge and we cannot wait to see what this season holds.”
