Since September first, the Coach Greg Thompson’s volleyball team is undefeated with six wins under their belt. Those victories included:
Thompson said, “I like the way we are playing right now. We are still trying to be more consistent every night we step on the floor. We have solidified a couple of spots in our line-up over the last week or so that were up in the air and I think that is helping us to get more time on the floor with the same group of girls.
Aris Hubbard has been playing well for us as an outside hitter and is getting more consistent each week. Savannah E’Dalgo and Tobi Johnson are both giving us great minutes at outside hitter as well. Savannah is so consistent in what she gives us every time she steps on the floor. Our senior leadership from Taylor Adams, Mary Zimmerman, Carley Henry and Savannah has been great all year. They are all great players, and I know what I am going to get out of them every time we play. Mary and Carley have been very solid in the middle and Taylor gives us a great option as a consistent right side hitter.
Our sophomores Bailey Shultz and Gracie Burge have done everything I could possibly ask for all year long. They are both great servers and I really can’t afford to not have them both on the floor at any given time.
Katy Hill, Lexi Forton, and Natalie Baddour have given us great minutes off the bench as well as in starting positions in some matches. I know I can count on them to be there whenever we need them. Lexi has established herself as a great DS (defensive specialist), and I am so proud of how hard she works at whatever position I need her to play. Madison Gasque has played exceptional volleyball at the libero position and has become one of the best passers in the region. She is a consistent passer and also has a great serve that puts a lot of pressure on our opponents.”
The Lady Dogs are 3-0 in region play with East Jackson coming up next (9/14). It should the biggest test in the region thus far. A win would give the team great position after playing all of the teams in the region for the first time.
Thompson commented, “I have a great group of girls who all get along and love each other. We are truly a “team” and are all in this together, regardless who is on the floor on any given night.”
