The Morgan County Bulldogs open Region 8AAA play against the East Jackson Eagles (from Commerce, Ga.) this Friday night at Bill Corry Stadium.  The Eagles are 2-2 on the young season having posted wins over Lakeview Academy (38-6) and Oglethorpe County (28-14) along with losses to Hebron Christian (17-7) and Glynn Academy (34-14).  Morgan enters the contest with a record of 3-2 including wins over North Oconee (23-13), Putnam County (35-14) and Lamar County 14-0) to go along with losses to Greene County (13-12) and Oconee County 21-0).

Historically Morgan County has owned this short series.  East Jackson has been playing varsity football only since 2007 with a record over those ten seasons of 25-67.  The Eagles have gone up against the Bulldogs in each of the last four campaigns but have yet to post a victory.  Morgan won 36-10 in 2012, 38-19 in 2013, 49-6 in 2014 and last season came away with a 36-10 win.

Statistically Morgan County is averaging 16.8 points per game on offense and are giving up 12.2 on defense while East Jackson is scoring at a 21.8 per game clip and surrendering 17.8 points per outing.  The Eagles have already surpassed their season win total of the past three years when they went 1-9 from 2013 through 2015.  East Jackson is coached by Christian Hunnicutt who is in his first year as a head coach.

The Bulldogs look to extend their two game winning streak and get off to a good start in their quest for the Region 8AAA title.

Game time is 7:30
