Georgia Power announced today the opening of a new electric vehicle (EV) community charging island in Madison. The new EV community charging island is located at the Captain D’s at 1910 Eatonton Road and is part of the company’s development of public charging infrastructure including dozens of new charging locations throughout the state. The new Madison location features multiple options for EV drivers including a DC fast charger (CHADeMo/SAE combo plugs) as well as a dual port Level 2, 208/240-volt charger.

“We are committed to assisting customers with all of their energy needs, including the increasing numbers of Georgians choosing to drive electric,” said Linda Gantt, Madison area manager for Georgia Power. “Our new public charging infrastructure is making it easier and more convenient than ever to charge up no matter where your journey takes you in the state of Georgia.”

To access Georgia Power’s public charging stations, electric vehicle (EV) drivers must have a Georgia Power Network Card, ChargePoint Card or an EZ Charge Card activated on the ChargePoint network. By signing up for the Georgia Power Network Card, EV drivers can also get special promotions and discounts, help the company determine future Georgia charger locations and access the largest nationwide EV charging network with more than 25,000 Level 2 and DC fast charging locations across the country.

Georgia Power is committed to advancing Georgia as an EV-friendly state. In addition to developing public charging infrastructure, the company also offers EV charger rebates for business and residential customers, an online calculator to help customers find out how much driving electric may save them and a special rate for EV customers.
