On January 28, 2016, Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church (LOPC) formed a scholarship committee to develop guidelines for application and selection criteria for their new annual scholarship program. Initial funding has been provided by a generous donor from within the church family. The scholarships awarded will vary but will not exceed $1,000. Applications will be posted on the LOPC church website and are open to any high school senior from Greene, Morgan, or Putnam counties who completes the application package. A letter of intent must be included with the application outlining career objective, education/training plans, need for funding and how it will be used.

The committee will then review all applications utilizing a blind rating system, and select finalists for a follow-up interview. Each year up to four candidates could be awarded a $250 scholarship, or the committee may decide to offer two $500 scholarships, or one outstanding applicant a $1,000 scholarship.

The application package will be available at area high schools, on the church’s website at http://www.lopc-pca.org/Resources/LOPCScholarship.aspx, or at the church office located at 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024. The application packet should be returned to the LOPC office or emailed to lopc@lopc-pca.org by December 1, 2016, to be awarded in 2017.
