Morgan County’s runners traveled to Carrollton, Georgia Saturday to compete on the course where the state championships will be hosted.  According to Coach Erin Spinks it was titled Last Chance because it was the last time before the state meet that teams would be able to view and run the course.

Spinks said, “It was an awesome meet with tons of teams there ranging from regions 1A-7A.  The race was divided up and had us lined up with teams from the 3A and 4A divisions.

Our team loaded the bus early and were full of excitement to get this opportunity!  It was like a pre-state race!  They had the normal bins but also had chips for their shoes to help measure the time.  The place was huge, the crowd was excited, and the runners were everywhere!!!  Our team did amazing!  We used this race as a guide to see the course, practice strategy for region, and get more experience running together.  Our boys finished fourth out of two districts!!  Girls pulled out sixth place!  These runners have worked so hard this season and have truly bonded together as a team!  I feel very confident that we are ready for Region this week!”

Morgan’s boys point total of 139 was good enough for a fourth place finish out of 12 teams.  The girls grabbed sixth out of ten contenders with a team score of 162.

Next up for our teams will be the Region 8-AAA Tournament at Hartwell on Thursday, October 27th.  Times are 2:00, 2:45, 3:30, 4:15.
