The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced an improvement project for Highway 441 Bypass between Madison and Watkinsville. The project is aiming to widen the two-lane highway into a four lane highway, as well as solve other potential problems with the road. “The intent is to widen,” said Claudia Bilotto, planning and environmental manager. “We are looking at everything and want to come up with the best solution for everyone.”
(GDOT) held a public information meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Morgan County High School cafeteria to alert the community of the coming project. The project is still in the planning phases and GDOT representatives came to Morgan County to gauge the opinions on how they would like to see the stretch of highway improved before finalizing design plans for the project. “The purpose of this Public Information Open House is to gather input regarding the needs, issues, and resources along the project corridor,” said Eric Duff, a State Environmental Administrator for GDOT. “The information will be essential in the design of the project as alignments have not been developed.”
