A new hotel may be coming to Madison near the 441 Bypass. The Madison Mayor and City Council approved a map amendment and zoning change for a piece property on Eatonton Road owned by Jack Bone for the purpose of accommodating a potential lodging facility to be built.

According to Bone, a hotel of the Hilton-Marriot variety may be built there, now that the City has approved his rezoning request for the property.

“It’s a possibility now. But it won’t happen over night. We still have a long, long road ahead of us,” said Bone to the City Council Friday morning.

“Well, we are excited about this,” said Mayor Fred Perriman.

“Yes, we don’t have enough sophisticated lodging facilities out near the bypass,” said City Councilwoman Chris Hodges.

According to Bone, if the project goes through, the new hotel will feature up to 80 rooms.

“It’ll be a big project…we hope it will happen,” said Bone.
