Three persons were arrested on two different days in Rutledge on various drug related charges.

According to Capt. Chris Bish, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Steven G. Hollis, 42, Rutledge, was arrested and charged with DUI drugs and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Bish said Hollis was stopped for allegedly running a stop sign at approximately 9:50 p.m. A consequent search of his vehicle in relation to the DUI drugs arrest revealed a small container of less than an ounce of methamphetamine, Bish said.

“We have been focused on him for a short time as part of our on–going quest to rid Morgan County of methamphetamine,” said Bish.

A day later Pamela L. Petch, 44, Rutledge and Justin A. Sherill, 24, Rutledge were both arrested at approximately 4:45 p.m. after a traffic stop resulted in the search of a vehicle Petch was driving. Consequent to the search, Bish said, deputies found suspected methamphetamine. Pitch was charged with failure to obey a stop sign, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and theft by receiving stolen property.

Sherill was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bish said deputies found a loaded .38 handgun under Sherill’s seat.

He also said the pair was arrested after they had been observed coming out of Hollis’ Harris Hollis Lane residence carrying a container the day after Hollis had been arrested.

“It was a continuation of the previous days arrest,” Bish said of Petch and Sherill’s arrest. “We knew they were co–conspirators.”

He said consequent to the vehicle stop of Petch the suspected methamphetamine “was in plain view” in the vehicle.
