A 28–year–old Apalachee Road resident was apprehended attempting to run on foot after he crashed a stolen vehicle following a high speed car chase with authorities.
Adam Scott McDaniel was arrested near the entrance to the Mallard Road subdivision after the Nissan pickup truck he had allegedly stolen from a Beaver Dam Road residence crashed while fleeing from several law enforcement units.
According to Capt. Chris Bish, Investigations, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, an investigator with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop McDaniel at approximately 10:15 a.m. for a traffic violation. Bish said McDaniel fled and led officers on a long chase that exceeded speeds of 90 mph.
During McDaniel’s arrest, one officer broke a bone in his hand.
Bish said McDaniel is a suspect on a burglary at the Beaver Dam Road residence where the truck owner lived. Bish said officers suspect McDaniel gained entrance to the Beaver Dam Road residence by removing an outdoor air conditioning unit.
When McDaniel was stopped, firearms from the Beaver Dam Road residence were found in the truck.
Bish said authorities believe McDaniel was “friends of the (Beaver Dam Road) family and knew everybody would be out of town at the time of the burglary.”
