VENUS and Other Paintings

Nicholas Kilmer is an American painter living in Cambridge, MA, whose artistic career is well-steeped in American and French Impressionism.   This exhibition is composed primarily of oil paintings – figure, landscape and portraits – selected from the body of Kilmer’s work over the past fifteen years.

We are asking professional artists, amateur artists, budding artists, really anyone who wants to participate to create an 8×10 painting that will then become part of The Great Art Wall of Madison. Sections of the wall will be displayed in many locations around town before the entire wall will come together at the unveiling on May 13th.  Just stop by the Madison Artists Guild Gallery located at 123 S Main Street in Madison to pick up a free canvas or to sign up for a workshop.  For more information, call Lori Williams at 770.312.3495. Tools of the Trade Exhibit at Steffen Thomas Museum.

Most exhibitions focus on the finished work of art and the end result of an artist’s creative process, but

Tools of the Trade emphasizes and highlights the materials and processes used by Master Artist

Steffen Thomas during the creation and production of his works of art. By showcasing the studio tools,

sketches and models that Thomas utilized, this exhibition offers an intimate look into Steffen Thomas

as an artist and an individual. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 AM – 4 PM or by

Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) is proud to present the Oconee County Schools Youth Art Month Exhibition Saturday, February 25 – Thursday, March 23 in its Main Gallery located at 34 School Street in Watkinsville. This exhibit highlights over 250 young artists from Oconee County’s public and private schools, grades K-12. Youth Art Month (YAM) is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school art programs. 12 – 2pm at the Madison Artists Guild Gallery The Boys & Girls Club and The Madison Artists Guild have teamed up to put the fun in fundraiser. The Madison Artists Guild Gallery will become a unique dining experience surrounded by beautiful art while some of the boys and girls will show off the hand-painted tote bags they have created. Interested in learning how a Master Artist creates their work? The Steffen Thomas Museum is offering

a Sara’s Salon Talk for Art Enthusiasts at 3 PM Sunday, April 2 on the current exhibit, Tools of the Trade.

Presented by Amy Smoler, Arts Outreach Coordinator at STMA, the talk and exhibit will emphasize and

highlight the materials and processes used by Master Artist Steffen Thomas, presenting an intimate

look into the artist and the individual. Talk is at 3:00 PM followed by a wine and cheese reception at

4:00 PM. Free and open to the public. Tools of the Trade will remain on exhibit at STMA through
