Criminal sentences given in Morgan Superior Court

The following persons were adjudicated in Morgan County Superior Court in the past two weeks during two scheduled criminal court sessions.

Mary Jane Gordon, 67, Rutledge pled guilty to one count illegal use of communication facility. She was sentenced to three years probation. According to court documents, Gordon was arrested on April 4, 2016 with several 17 other defendants who were charged with various counts, including racketeering charges in relation to a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

Philander Leigh Mathis, 36, Madison pled guilty to one count illegal use of communication facility. She was sentenced to three years probation and fined $1,000. According to court documents, Mathis was arrested on October 16, 2016 with several 17 other defendants who were charged with various counts, including racketeering charges in relation to a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

Otis Morgan, 59, Madison pled guilty to one count illegal use of communication facility. He was sentenced to three years probation and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Morgan was arrested on April 4, 2016 with several 17 other defendants who were charged with various counts, including racketeering charges in relation to a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

Belinda White, 55, Madison pled guilty to one count illegal use of communication facility. She was sentenced to three years probation and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, White was arrested on March 31, 2016 with several 17 other defendants who were charged with various counts, including racketeering charges in relation to a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

  Beloise Cardwell, 55, Macon pled guilty to one count following too closely. She was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Cardwell was arrested on October 26, 2014 on 11 traffic and other offenses including DUI and obstruction. The other counts were dismissed.

Brian Lane Pilkington, 51, Eatonton pled guilt to DUI less safe, drugs and failure to maintain lane. He was sentenced to one year probation with the first 24 hours to be served in confinement and he was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Pilkington was arrested on April 28, 2015 on Georgia Highway 83 near Aqua Road by a Georgia State Patrol trooper.

Bereket James Lewis, 35, Atlanta pled guilty to one count obstruction of an officer and one count drugs not in original container. He was sentenced to two years and was given credit for time served since November  26, 2015. According to court documents, Lewis was arrested by a Madison Police Department officer on November 26, 2015 after a Tahoe in which he was a passenger was stopped at the TA Truck Stop, Eatonton Road. Warrants allege that after the stop Lewis exited the vehicle despite given commands to stay in the vehicle and then attempted to flee and was razed by the officer. Consequent to his arrest the officer found several narcotic pills on Lewis’ person.

William Ralph Snowden, 30, Madison had charges of DUI against him dismissed. According to court documents, the charges were dropped because of insufficient evidence. Court records note that “there is evidence that another person was driving the vehicle in question.” Snowden was arrested on October 9, 2015 after an accident occurred on Buckhead Road.

James Mercer Williams, 47, Madison had charges of DUI against him dismissed. According to court documents, there was insufficient evidence of DUI after Williams was arrested on Pierce Dairy Road on December 6, 2015.

Demetrius Darnell Hardge, 39, Athens pled guilty to two counts sale of cocaine. He was sentenced to 25 years with the first eight years to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also fined $2,000. According to court documents, Hardge was arrested on April 12, 2016 by a Madison Police Department officer after he sold a quantity of cocaine to a confidential source on March 17, 2016 and again on March 22, 2016.

Dalton James Hedrick, 22, Nicholson, Ga. pled guilty to one count statutory rape. He was sentenced to 10 years with the first two years to be served in the Morgan County Detention Center and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also fined $2,000. According to court documents, Hedrick was arrested on April 6, 2016 by a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent after he was accused of having sexual intercourse with a 13–year–old female.

Raymond Diquon Coats, 31, Madison pled guilty to one count sale of cocaine, one count fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, one count driving while license suspended and one count reckless driving. He was sentenced to 12 years with the first three years to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. According to court documents, Coats was arrested by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office officer on May 6, 2016 after he sold a quantity of crack cocaine to a confidential source while on the property of the Morgan Circle Housing Projects. Warrants also allege that Coats fled officers while driving a vehicle when his license was suspended. Documents state that after Coats stopped the vehicle at a dead end on Penor Street, he then fled on foot.

Marcone Souza Xavier, 33, Greensboro pled guilty to one count DUI and one count speeding. He was sentenced to 11 months probation and was fined $1,250. According to court documents, Xavier was arrested by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy on August 1, 2015 on Interstate 20.

Norman P. Bessette, III, 36, Madison pled to one count theft by receiving a one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 10 years with five years of that sentence suspended with successful completion of the RSAT program. According to court documents, Bessette was arrested on June 9, 2016 after he accepted a weapon from a woman who had found the gun in a vehicle she had recently purchased. In a separate matter, Bessette also pled guilty to one count sale of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 15 years with the same conditions as the first sentence with the 15 years to be concurrent with any other sentencing. He was fined $1,000. In this case, court documents state, Bessette was arrested on July 13, 2016 after he sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant on April 11, 2016. In a third matter, Bessette pled guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine, one count possession of Ocydodone, one count DUI less safe drugs, one count possession of marijuana, less than an ounce and one count drugs not in original container. He was sentenced to three years to run concurrent with any other sentence and was fined $1,000. In this instance, court documents state, Bessette was arrested on June 5, 2016 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s deputy after a traffic stop on Monticello Highway.

Cynthia Crowley Dorsey, 59, Rutledge pled guilty to one count failure to maintain lane. She was sentenced to one year probation and fined $250. According to court documents, Dorsey was arrested April 3, 2016 and charged with improper driving on roadway and DUI after a single car incident on Georgia Highway 278.

Giselle Garza Guerrero, 23, Norcross had a cash bond of $486.25 forfeited to adjudicate a May 21, 2016 arrest for speeding. According to court documents, Guerrero was arrested on Interstate 20 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy for driving 84 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Christi Powers Avendano, 49, Covington had charges of battery, criminal trespass and burglary dismissed for insufficient evidence. According to court documents,  the victim in the charges “does not wish to pursue the case and has signed a form stating so.” According to court documents, Avendano was arrested on March 25, 2016 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy after she allegedly entered a Fears Road residence and struck a man on the right eye with a flash light.

Demonte Jamaal Wilson, 19, Sparta pled guilty to one count speeding. He was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Wilson was arrested on May 5, 2016 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy for speeding on Interstate 20.

John Dee McGinty, 18, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. He was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, after his arrest during a confrontation with another man, a deputy located a small amount of marijuana in a cigarette pack next to the seat McGinty had occupied in a vehicle.

Henry Charles Balster, 39, Watkinsvsille pled guilty to one count possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. He was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Balster was arrested by a Georgia State Patrol trooper on Maddox Road on October 10, 2016.

Fredrik’s Lenorris Williams, 23, Madison pled guilty to one count DUI less safe drugs and one count speeding. He was sentenced to one year probation with the first 24 hours to be served in confinement and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Williams was arrested on Old Buckhead Road by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy on August 6, 2016.

Sean Anthony Adams, 33, Douglasville pled guilty to one count DUI less safe alcohol and one count driving while license suspended. He was sentenced to one year probation and given credit for time served since October 21, 2016. He was also fined $800. According to court documents, he was arrested on October 21, 2016 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Interstate 20.

Echo Jean Phillips, 34, Carrollton pled guilty to one count possession of cocaine. She was sentenced to two years probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Phillips was arrested on October 21, 2016 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy after the deputy found a pipe with a white powdery residue in the pipe suspected to be cocaine in the center console of Phillips’ vehicle after a traffic stop.

William Lewis Greenway, 54, Covington pled guilty to one count DUI. He was sentenced to one year probation with the first 10 days to be served in confinement. He was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Greenway was arrested on December 3, 2015 on Hawkins Avenue at noon by a Georgia State Patrol trooper.

Paul Edward Nellie, 47, Colquitt, pled guilty to one count possession of drug related objects. He was sentenced to nine months and given credit for time served since October 26, 2016. According to court documents, Nellie was arrested on October 28, 2016 after deputies searching for a wanted woman went to a Doster Road residence and viewed drug related objects and a mason jar of suspected marijuana, clear baggies of suspected methamphetamine and 14 Xanax pills in the bed of a pickup truck at the residence.

Michael Brandon Newman, 34, Miami Beach, Fla. pled guilty to one count reckless driving. He was sentenced to 90 days and given credit for time served. Records state that sentences, fines, fees are suspended upon Newman’s extradition to Missouri.

Noah Alexander Trammell, 20, Madison pled guilty to one count statutory rape. He was sentenced to 10 years with the first 18 months to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also given credit for time served from September 10, 2015 and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Trammell was arrested on September 10, 2015 after he had sexual intercourse with a 13–year–old female “over the course of several months.”

Frederick Binion, 49, Madison pled guilty to one count possession off a schedule II controlled substance. He was sentenced to three years probation and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Binion was arrested on June 7, 2012 with several 17 other defendants who were charged with various counts, including racketeering charges in relation to a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

Mary Elizabeth Ciafrani, 39, Madison pled guilty to one count DUI less safe alcohol and one count failure to maintain lane. She was sentenced to one year probation with the first 24 hours to be served in confinement and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Ciafrani was arrested on June 19, 2015 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper on Georgia State Route 24 near Sandy Creek Road.

Jonathan Douglas Echols, 34, Newborn pled guilty to one count driving while license suspended. He was sentenced to one year probation and fined $500.

Ricky Nelson Keeley, 57, Madison pled guilty to one count aggravated assault and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 15 years with the first eight years to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also fined $1,000. According to court documents, Keeley was arrested on May 9, 2016 by a Madison Police Department officer after Keeley had an altercation with a woman at a Micha Way residence.

Edward Kendrick Heard, 34, Norcross pled guilty to two counts sale of cocaine, one count possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, one count possession of cocaine with then intent to distribute, one count obstruction of a officer and one count driving while license suspended. He was sentenced to 15 years with the first 90 days to be served at the Morgan County Detention Center and then after entry for 90 to 120 days at the State Probation Detention Center, he may finish his sentence on probation. He was also fined $2,000. According to court documents, Heard was arrested by a Madison Police Department officer while riding a dirt bike on Carmichael Street on April 12, 2016. Records indicate the initial arrest came because Heard had outstanding warrants against him related to selling a quantity of cocaine to a confidential informant on October 9, 2015.

Bernardon Jacques Dormeis, 35, Atlanta pled guilty to one count fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and one count driving while license suspended. He was sentenced to five years with the first three years to be served in confinement and the remainder to be served on probation. According to court documents, Dormeis was arrested by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy on June 12, 2016 on Interstate 20. Records allege that Dormeis was driving a tow truck stolen from McDuffie County when he refused to stop for an officer and attempted to flee.

Leesa Ann Greenway, 54, Monroe pled guilty to one count theft by shoplifting. She was sentenced to one year to be served on probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Greenway was arrested on September 3, 2015 after she took wallets from Wal Mart, Eatonton Road. In a separate incident Greenway pled guilty to one count DUI less safe drugs. She was sentenced to one year to run concurrent with any other sentences and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, in that incident Greenway was arrested on March 11, 2016 on Cedar Grove Road by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy who alleged that Greenway was driving a motor vehicle under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Ashley Page Holland, 33, Buckhead pled guilty to one count shoplifting. She was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Holland was arrested on September 3,, 2015 after she took shirts with a value of less than $500 from Wal Mart, Eatonton Road, without paying for the items.

Stanley Gibbs, 56, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, one count possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and one count possession of drug related objects. He was sentenced to eight years probation and was fined $2,000. According to court documents, Gibbs was arrested after a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy served an arrest warrant against Gibbs for the sell of methamphetamine at a Creek Point Drive residence and found Gibbs and another man in a garage area of the residence. On the floor, warrants allege, were digital scales, methamphetamine, marijuana and small plastic bags and a pill bottle containing eight loose pills.

Kenya Shane Rivers, 25, Madison pled guilty to one count reckless driving. She was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $500. According to court documents, Rivers was arrested by a Madison Police Department officer on May 6, 2016 on East Washington Street.

Hunter Daniel Burgess, 21, Marietta, pled guilty to possession ofAlprazolam and one count possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. He was sentenced to two years to be served on probation and was fined $1,000. According to court documents, Burgess was arrested on May 30, 2016 on Interstate 20 by a Georgai State Patrol trooper after a traffic stop. Warrants state the trooper found a Mason jar with a small amount of marijuana in the glove box and a second Mason jar with pills and marijuana ion the back seat.

Lewis Stephen Nunn, 30, Loganville pled guilty to one count DUI and one count failure to maintain lane. He was sentenced to one year probation with the first 24 hours to be served in confinement. He was fined $800. According to court documents, he was arrested on November 1, 2015 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper on Mergandollar Road in Morgan County.

Madalyn Seals, 29, Madison pled guilty to one count permitting unlicensed person to drive. She was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $250. According to court documents, Seals was arrested on August 29, 2016 on West Washington Street by a Madison Police Department officer.

Marvin Simmons, Jr. 18, Conyers pled guilty to two counts aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 10 years and fined $1,000. According to court documents, Simmons was arrested by a Madison Police Department officer on November 3, 2016 after he struck a man several times with a bat while at Wal Mart and then attempted to strike the man again as the man fled.

Justin Abram Sherrill, 25, Rutledge pled guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, one count possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, one count theft by receiving stolen property and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to eight years in confinement. According to court documents, Sherrill was arrested on November 17, 2016 after a vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped on Dixie Highway. Inside the vehicle, a warrant alleges, officers found a white bucket that contained a large number of plastic bags; two plastic bags that contained nine Percocet tablets, a second bag that contained 10 Hydrocodone pills, scales, glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and packing items. A .357 Smith and Wesson handgun was also located on the passenger side of the vehicle.
