A 21–year–old Loganville man died tragically in a single car accident on Interstate 20.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Kevin Kayland Burke was pronounced dead at the scene of the Tuesday, May 16 accident. Reports state that at approximately 6 p.m. the 1995 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Burke failed to maintain its lane and drifted into the median. The vehicle travelled 369 feet in the median before the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross over to the far left lane. Burke overcorrected a second time and the vehicle re–entered the median and then overturned several times.
The incident occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 approximately a half mile from the Sewell Road overpass.
Reports state that Burke was wearing a seatbelt but was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pinned under the Nissan when it came to rest. A trooper arrived at the scene five minutes after the incident.
