Bad news. Good news. Right so the bad news is that Anne Redmond, owner of Canavan Home and Arts located at 125 West Jefferson Street in Madison, is retiring and plans to close her shop. Anne says her artisans and their products will be leaving July 31. The good news is that Anne plans to study art therapy to put her knowledge of art into a career that helps people. I just think that’s really cool! Ok so that means her building with 2,500 square feet, plus a full basement (not included in the square footage) is on the market for $299,000! This is an awesome retail space so y’all up-and-comin’ entrepreneurs come and get it! The net net is this: Everything in the shop, paintings, hand-made crafts, jewelry, glass art, and much, much more is on sale for 10 percent off! Get over there right smack this minute and get some great art by regional artists and wish Anne the best of luck with her new studies!
Ok so word on the street is that the new, soon-to-open restaurant is gonna be called Mint Juleps Kitchen! Don’t y’all just love that name? Well Momma sure as shootin’ does ‘cause she smack loves Mint Julep cocktails! So this new restaurant is gonna be located in the former Clover House space at 231 Hancock Street and it’s owned by Morgan County resident Susan Dreager! The City of Madison just approved her pouring license so we know fun libations will be served in this really cool space. Ok so Susan just let me see a sample lunch menu to give us an idea of what it’s gonna be like and honey this place is gonna ROCK! I flat can’t get Momma to calm down ‘cause this menu concept is really fabulishous with Starters like roasted mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat, brie cheese, garlic and butter. Oh. My. Ever. Livin’. Gosh! And, that’s just one of the Starters!
They will also be servin’ side salads and entrée salads like the Madison with lettuce, house roasted turkey, avocado, bacon and when can I get this for lunch? I just don’t have room to tell it all y’all! Other menu sections include Panini/Hot Sandwiches, Deli/Chilled Sandwiches and Hot Plates/Pastas like Etouffee with shrimp, chicken, basmati rice and honey cornbread; Glazed Salmon with honey and bourbon, sweet peas, carrots and soba noodles; and Charleston Shrimp n Grits! Ok when I say when will this fun place be open? Susan says Mint Juleps Kitchen will open sometime between August 1 and September 1! Cannot wait! Y’all keep watchin this space for more intel! The great thing about this new local spot is that it’s gonna drive more traffic into our beautiful downtown Madison! Y’all keep watchin’ the Buzz for more intel! Aren’t y’all excited? Yes!
Pet Wants has flat moved y’all! But don’t cry ‘cause it’s just right smack down the road over at 1400 Eatonton Road, Suite 600 next to my fave Wild Berry and H&R Block and right down from Madison’s famous Little Philly’s! I just popped in there and LOVE the new space! Owner Susan Scherer is so excited about havin’ more room and now is sellin’ some really cool new products in addition to her famous dog and cat foods! My fave is the Rescued Wine candles (10 percent of sales go to animal rescue)! They come in recycled wine bottles with scents like Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet and Scratch & Sniff (which I had to buy). Ok so she’s also now sellin’ raw goat milk for dogs and cats that comes from Yellow Rose Farm over in nearby Shady Dale! Right so Susan says goat milk is really good for your dogs and cats ‘cause it’s easier to digest and has a reduced risk of allergic responses. Plus it contains probiotics and really good nutrients! Now y’all also know Susan delivers her cat and dog foods right? Oh and Petey the poodle and Scout the jackuahua absolutely love Pet Wants homemade beef jerky (made by Susan’s husband). Honey they flat fight over it! Y’all get over there and check it out! You will be so glad you did and so will your furry friends! Tell Susan the Biz Buzz sent ya!
Hey! Another business that moved locations is Nesbitt Repair! Honey Frank Nesbitt’s company is a licensed plumber and electrician and he’s saved me plenty of times . . . like when I tried to replace my doorbell and flat near caught the house on fire! Dang! Frank came over and fixed it right on up. Anyhow, Nesbitt Repair’s new location is 1400 North Fifth Street! If y’all get in trouble just call Frank at 706-752-0020!
