It’s that time of year again to come together with families and friends to celebrate the end of Summer in Town Park at the annual Firefly Festival! Held this year on Friday July 28th and Saturday July 29th, the event will be filled with music, a kids night, a date night concert, and a ton more.

According to the City of Madison website, Friday will hold the Family Frolic, a kids night at Town Park. As stated in the website, families can enjoy stilt walkers, music, bubbles, face painters, fun inflatables, creative kids crafts, and family entertainment all from 6:30-8:30. Colleen Hall, Special Events Coordinator for Madison, states that Friday will also have, “A water slide, a cool bouncy house, a petting zoo, a disco dance party, a trackless train, and crafts for the kids. There is a lot of fun stuff.” Kids pay $5 for this event, while parents can enjoy for free. Hall also states that, “Antique Sweets will be on site with ice cream again this year. Kids all get an icecream ticket with their entry for free icecream.” Families are welcome to bring their leashed pets, as long as you clean up after them! This event on Friday is for kids 12 and under, so bring the family and have some fun!

The website also states that Saturday June 29th is “Date Night”, and the Sensational Sounds of Motown are coming back to play some great music. Hall states, “People sounds really excited about having them back from all of the phone calls I have been getting.” According to the website the concert will be held from 7:30-9:30 with gates opening at 6:30. Tickets for this event are $10, but kids 12 and under can get in for free. And make sure to bring coolers and blankets and enjoy some food on Town Parks lawn, because as stated on the website no food vendors will be present. If you also want to claim a tent for Saturdays event, call Main Street so they can hold your spot. And according to the website, lawn tent spaces are free of charge and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. No pets on Saturdays event, unless they are service animals. So come to this fun event and enjoy the great music and your “dates”!

If you want a table to sit at to enjoy the festival, you can also reserve a Gazebo terrace table for only $85, which also comes with 4 concert tickets. As stated on the website, each table comes with four chairs, with room for two ‘bring your own’ chairs, a lighted umbrella and a cooler of ice to keep your beverages cold. “Only a couple of tables are left,” Hall says, so reserve yours by calling Madison Main Street at (706) 342-1251 x208.

The Firefly Festival has been a successful event held in Town Park for the past 8 years. When the park first opened in 2009, which was also the bicentennial year, the festival began. “This event pulls in a unique crowd. It is a lot of locals, but also people from all around. We advertise for this event in Athens, Watkinsville, Macon, and we pull people from Atlanta and Augusta for this event. Those people come to Madison and experience our beautiful downtown, and they come back again once they see how great it is. Even if they are just here for the evening on Friday or Saturday they know this is a great place to be and they want to come back again,” states Hall. So make sure you stop by and enjoy the last bit of summer with family, friends, and some fireflies!
